Marking Symbols

This chart is introduced in Call to Worship, but can be used in any study. Use it to keep track of how you prefer to highlight keywords throughout the text of Scripture. Remember to keep your markings simple. The point is simply to use these marks as a tool to help you pay closer attention to the words that are in the Word. There is no right or wrong way to mark any given word – make your marking system your own, whatever works best for you!

I’ve included a small sample of keywords that you will find throughout your Bible. Add to this list as you work through your study. Some people prefer to keep their markings consistent throughout their Bible. Others choose to change their marks based on the book they are studying. Print as many copies of this chart as you need for yourself or your group. Tuck it into your Bible, your study guide, or your 3-ring binder.

The God I Worship

This chart is introduced in Call To Worship, but can be used for any study. Print as many pages as you need to keep track of all the truths that the Lord reveals to you about Himself as you study His Word. You may want to dedicate a section in a notebook to keep track of these truths – you will be amazed at what you learn about the Lord as you build on this chart!

List the reference in the first column. In the second column, write down what that reference tells you about God, word for word from the text. In the third column add your response – the difference this truth about God makes to your life.

Days of Creation in the Psalms

This chart is included in Songs of Our Creator. Download and print this copy for your convenience as you study!

Key Word Lists

While each Treasuring God’s Word study guide gives you an opportunity to take notes on what you learn about certain key words, this chart will allow you to keep track of what you learn about these words as you continue in your study of God’s Word. You may find it helpful to add the original word definition as you study, along with the Strong’s reference. If you do this, make sure your list contains references to the same Hebrew or Greek word.

In the first column, list the reference. In the second column, write out what you learn about that word, keeping the questions who, what, when, where, why, and how in mind. Make sure you are using the words found in the text and not jumping to interpretation at this point.
